Throws

A throw is the thing you reach for without thinking, which is a good test of whether it was well made.

Ours are woven in collaboration with skilled Indian artisans, in weights and weaves suited to a warm climate as much as a cold one. In Singapore a throw is rarely about heat it is about the moment the air conditioning turns the evening cool, and about what a folded length of handwoven cloth does to the end of a bed or the arm of a chair.

The collection is designed to layer with our cushions and rugs. Where a cushion introduces pattern in a contained square, a throw introduces it across a larger, softer surface, and it moves. Folded, it reads as a band of colour. Thrown, it breaks up a sofa's straight lines and makes a room look inhabited. Both are correct, and most people alternate without noticing.

Throws are also one of the easiest gifts to get right. They suit any home, they need no measuring, and they are used rather than stored.

Throws

Discover cotton throws in Singapore from Peaches, designed to add colour, texture and comfort to sofas and beds. Our hand block-printed throws are made from breathable cotton, making them well suited to Singapore's warm, humid climate.

CHOOSING A THROW

Size. Ours are made in one size — 78 × 52 inches, or roughly 198 × 132cm. That covers a double bed as a top layer, drapes a three-seater sofa generously, and wraps comfortably around one adult. It is deliberately one size: a throw that is too small is useless, and a throw that is too large is a blanket.

Fabric. Cotton, hand block printed. Breathable, washable, and it softens with every wash. In a hot, humid climate this is the correct answer; wool and cashmere are warmer but they are rarely what a Singapore evening actually calls for, and they cannot be thrown in the machine.

Colour. A throw covers more surface than a cushion, so a strong colour goes further. If the sofa is patterned, choose a quieter throw. If the sofa is plain, let the throw carry the pattern.

Care. Machine wash cool on a gentle cycle with similar colours. Block-printed cotton may release a little excess dye on the first wash, so wash it alone the first time. Line dry
